Who we are and how, what, when and where we express our - “social being” - impacts our identity and relationships within and between families, friends, communities, nations and the planet. SOCIAL BEING featured the creative work of five Eugene area women artists—Kathleen Caprario, Sandra Honda, Mei-ling Lee, Charly Swing and Kerry Weeks— and explores the intersections and the rich conversations possible within socially engaged art. Questions of identity, the “other”, social justice and privilege were considered. Presentation formats included two and three-dimensional artwork, interactive performance and installation, as well as community events and conversations in coordination with the hosting venue, the Maude Kerns Art Center, Eugene, OR.
